An employee at a nursing home in Flint has tested positive for COVID-19.
The person worked at Kith Haven Skilled Nursing Center and is being treated at a nearby hospital, according to a statement from Dana Alexander, the nursing home’s administrator.
The nursing home was notified of the employee testing positive for COVID-19 on March 25.
“We are working with the local health department and have implemented procedures consistent with Centers for Disease Control and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services guidelines and direction to protect other residents and staff from further exposure,” Alexander said. “We are continuing to monitor residents and staff for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.”
People in contact with the infected staff member are undergoing increased monitoring and are socially distancing themselves from other residents.
“The facility is taking the necessary precautions for residents and staff members in strict compliance with CDC and CMS guidelines and direction,” Alexander said. “Staff members are continuing to be screened and monitored for signs and symptoms of the virus.”
