The Top 10—The highest ranked nursing home states that scored an overall superior grade include: Hawaii (1), Delaware (2), Alaska (3), Rhode Island (4), Utah (5), Idaho (6), Arizona (7), District of Columbia (8), Maine (9), and New Jersey (10).

The Bottom of the Barrel—The lowest ranked nursing home states that scored an overall failing grade include: Texas (51), North Carolina (50), Illinois (49), Georgia (48), New Mexico (47), Pennsylvania (46), Michigan (45), Oklahoma (44), Louisiana (43), Arkansas (42), and Indiana (41).

Significant Improvement — The following states netted the most positive gain in overall ranking since the last report card: New York (+20), Mississippi (+17), Nevada (+14), Alaska (+13), and Connecticut (+11).

Sharpest Decline – These states had the largest drop in overall ranking: Vermont (-27), Massachusetts (-24), Arkansas (-17), North Carolina (-15) and Pennsylvania (-14).
